Lost Class Ring...
Found!
Published:
5/22/2008
Talk about lost and found!
Lee Joe Whitehead, a 1962 BHS graduate, recently got some good (and
very surprising) news. After graduation, Mr. Whitehead went to Boot
Camp in Maryland,
where his BHS class ring was stolen. He never saw it again and
probably never expected to. However, thanks to a very considerate
couple in California, this former Beaver will soon have
his class ring back on his finger. While on a walk near Travis Air
Force Base in
Suisun, California Anne
and Billy Hicks found Mr. Whiteheads class ring. They contacted
BHS, and the search began to locate the owner. Unfortunately, there
was not much information to go on. Using the initials on the ring
and the year, Mr. Godfrey attempted to find the owner through
yearbooks. Mr. Godfrey, Mrs. Goble, Katie Hincher, and
Tabitha
Corell researched online yearbooks and even Googled what
information they had, but still couldnt locate the owner.
Coincidentally, guidance counselor Millie Odell, happened to walk
into Mr. Godfreys office and saw Mr. Whiteheads picture on the
computer screen. Amazingly, Millie said that she knew him, and he
was one of her husbands best friends. She gave Mr. Godfrey his
phone number and the rest is history. Mr. Godfrey is mailing the
class ring to Mr. Whitehead this week.
